[김일중 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 11월 2일부터 오는 14일까지 동두천시 평생교육원 시립도서관에서는 도서관에 찾아온 예술 ART CUBE展 전시를 운영중이라고 밝혔다.

‘ART CUBE展’ 전시는 한국문화예술위원회가 후원하는 ‘신나는 예술여행’ 사업의 일환으로 그동안 코로나19 거점전담병원 2곳에서 전시하였으며, 도서관에서는 처음으로 시립도서관과 컬쳐컬렉션 예술단체의 협업으로 기획하는 전시라고 했다.

이번 전시는 국내 유명 현대미술 작가 권지은(화원-화양), 박현진(양시리즈/동두천출신작가), 변대용(훵케스트라), 이동기(아토마우스), 홍경택(북극곰) 등 5인의 회화, 조각, 영상 등 다채로운 구성의 현대미술 16작품을 동두천시립도서관 1층 로비와 어린이누리실, 3층 커뮤니티실 등 자료실 곳곳에 전시하여 관람객들이 찾아다니며 작품을 감상할 수 있도록 색다른 보는 재미를 선사하고 있으며, 특히 이동기 작가의 아토마우스 캐릭터 스티커와 컬러페이퍼 만들기를 무료로 배포하고 있어 주말 도서관을 찾은 어린이들에게 매우 인기가 높다고 전했다.

가족과 함께 전시공간을 찾은 시민은 “코로나19로 힘든 환경에 멀리 가지 않아도 도서관에서 유명작가의 멋진 작품을 아이들과 함께 관람할 수 있어서 매우 기쁘다”며 도서관에 고마움을 표했다. 

도서관 관계자는 “앞으로도 시립도서관은 다양한 장르의 전시를 통해 지식을 얻는 공간이자 여유를 느낄 수 있는 복합문화공간으로 나아가도록 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
