이번 대청소는 추석명절동안 주민들에게 깨끗한 환경을 제공하고, 코로나19로 한동안 뜸했던 환경정화활동을 활성화하고자 권역차원에서 추진됐으며, 신곡권역 전역을 대상으로 진행됐으며, 참여자들은 장마철 후 무성하게 자란 도로변 잡풀을 제거하고, 거리 곳곳에 쌓인 쓰레기를 수거하여 청결한 거리환경 조성에 일조했다고 했다. 

신곡1동은 청룡마을, 발곡역 인근 등 14곳을 대상으로 200여 명이 참여했고, 장암동은 장암삼거리, 상하촌마을 등 10곳을 대상으로 140여 명이, 신곡2동은 의정부우체국 인근, 신곡벽산아파트 일대 도로 등 8곳을 대상으로 160여 명이 각각 참여했고, 특히 코로나 확산 방지를 위해 마스크를 착용하고 4인씩 조를 이루어 30여 곳 이상 분산하여 담당구역을 청소했다고 했다.
