[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 8월 19일 의정부시 신곡1동주민센터는 16명이 참여한 비대면 화상 정례회의를 끝으로 의정부시 신곡1동 주민자치위원회가 막을 내렸다고 밝혔다.

올해는 코로나19 여파로 주민자치 프로그램을 개강하지 못했지만, 마을공동체 주민 제안 공모사업인 ‘신곡1동 중랑천 제방 미화사업’, 주민자치위원들이 직접 제작한 ‘아기탄생 기념품 증정사업’을 실시하였으며 향후 쌀 10kg 150포를 불우이웃에게 전달하는 등 뜻깊은 마무리를 지을 예정이라고 했다.

2000년부터 주민자치시대를 지향하고자 출범했던 주민자치위원회는 ‘어울림 한마당 축제’, ‘사랑의 연탄나눔’, ‘사랑릴레이 배턴잇기’등 다양한 활동을 통해 지역 사회 발전을 위해 헌신했다고 했다. 

한편, 주민자치위원회는 의정부시 주민자치회 시범실시 및 설치·운영에 관한 조례에 따라 오는 9월 1일부터 주민자치회로 전환되며, 주민 스스로가 마을에 필요한 사업을 계획하고 주민총회를 통하여 결정하고 수행하는 주민대표기구 역할을 하게 되고, 신곡1동에서는 지난 12일 심사를 거쳐 총 35명의 주민자치회 위원을 선발하였으며, 오는 9월 중 위촉장을 전달할 예정이라고 했다.
