[안종욱 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 24일 가평군은 국도37호선 용천~설악간 2차로 개량사업이 기획재정부 예비타당성조사를 통과하고, 예타종합평가와 별개로 안정성평가에 따른 도로개량사업으로 청평~가평, 서종~가평 설악 2차로 개량사업이 확정됐다고 밝혔다.

이 도로들이 완성되면 양평과 가평을 연결하는 간선도로 기능 개선으로 가평군의 관광인프라 개선에도 크게 기여할 것으로 기대된다고 했다.

국도37호선 용천~설악간 2차로 개량사업 외 2개사업은 지난 2020년 1월 국토교통부 제5차 국도ㆍ국지도 5개년(‘21~’25) 계획 일괄예비타당성 조사 대상으로 선정된 이후 기획재정부의 약 1년 7개월의 검토를 거쳐 2021년 8월 24일 안도걸 제2차관 주재로 열린 재정사업평가위원회 심의에서 최종 확정됐다고 했다.

그간 김성기 군수는 국회와 기획재정부, 국토교통부, 국토연구원 등을 찾아 해당 사업의 필요성과 당위성을 설명하고, 절실함을 읍소하는 등 예타 통과를 위해 적극적인 노력을 펼쳐 왔다고 했다.
