[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 8월 11일 북부지방산림청은 성장기 초등학생들에게 숲에 대한 지식 습득, 산림분야 진로 탐색 기회 등을 제공하기 위해 추진 중인 제17회 어린이 숲 올림피아드 착수보고회를 북부지방산림청 대회의실에서 개최했다고 밝혔다.

북부지방산림청은 2004년 ‘우리나무 바로알기 콘테스트’를 시작으로 주기적인 어린이 숲 올림피아드 행사를 개최하여 미래의 주역이 될 어린이들이 숲을 마음껏 누리며 창의적인 인재로 성장하는 데 기여해오고 있다고 전했다.

이번 착수보고회는 북부지방산림청, 용역 수행 업체 등 산림교육 전문가들이 참석한 가운데, 제17회 어린이 숲 올림피아드 참가자 모집·선정 및 행사 진행 등 세부 추진계획 보고와 원활한 사업 추진을 위한 방안 등을 논의하는 방식으로 진행됐다고 했다.

제17회 어린이 숲 올림피아드 행사진행은 관내 초등학생 약 200여 명을 모집하여 강원도 홍천군 삼마치리에 위치한 국민의 숲(체험의 숲)에서 10월경 개최할 예정이며, 마스크 착용, 밀집도 완화 등 코로나-19 관련 산림복지분야 다중이용시설 방역 수칙을 철저히 준수한 상태에서 오감존·미래존·탐험존·힐링존의 4가지 테마 구역별 프로그램을 진행할 예정이라고 했다.
