[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 7월 10일부터 의정부시는 폭염주의보가 지속 발효됨에 따라 폭염으로 인한 안전사고를 예방하고 생활 불편을 최소화하기 위하여 폭염 대응체계를 강화하여 상황관리를 철저히 추진하고 있다고 밝혔다.

의정부시는 지난 5월 여름철 폭염대책기간(5.20.~9.30.)에 앞서 폭염 종합 대책을 수립하여 폭염에 선제적으로 대응하고 있으며, 폭염특보 기간 동안 안전교통건설국장을 중심으로 6개 반으로 편성된 폭염 상황관리 T/F팀을 구성하여 폭염 상황관리체계를 강화하고 폭염특보 및 국민행동요령를 적극 홍보하는 등 시민홍보와 현장대응을 병행하고 있다고 했다. 

또한, 관내 주요 횡단보도 및 초등학교 앞 등에 폭염저감시설(그늘막 138개소)을 설치했고 추가로 13개소를 확대 설치할 예정이며, 도심지 열섬현상 완화를 위해 관내 전역에 매일 1~2회 이상 살수차를 운행하여 폭염 피해 예방에 적극 노력하고 있다고 했다.

아울러, 폭염 취약계층을 위한 재난 도우미를 운영하고 취약계층에 폭염 예방물품을 7월 중으로 배부할 예정이며, 코로나19로 운영이 어려운 실내 무더위쉼터 외에 야외 무더위 쉼터 3개소를 지정·운영하여 폭염 피해 예방활동 및 냉방물품 등을 지원할 예정이라고 전했다.
