[장선희 기자 = 경기북부] 지난 6월 2일 의정부시 어린이도서관은 정보취약계층 아동에게 독서 및 문화 향유의 기회를 제공하고자 아동 도서 112권을 의정부영아원에 전달했다고 밝혔다.

이번 도서 지원 사업은 '움직이는 어린이도서관'의 일환으로 도서관 접근이 어려운 의정부영아원 입소 아동에게 독서 활동에 필요한 도서를 지원해주어 책과 친해지는 계기를 마련해주고자 이루어졌다고 했다. 

‘움직이는 어린이도서관’은 2011년 의정부성모병원 소아병동 아동 및 보호자에게 다양한 프로그램을 제공하며 시작했고, 2019년까지는 의정부영아원, 의정부보람병원 등을 직접 찾아가 책 읽어주기, 인형극, 작은 음악회 등의 프로그램을 총 221회 제공, 7천여 명에게 도서관 문화 혜택을 주었다고 말했다. 

코로나19 발생 후에는 건강에 취약한 아동의 직접 대면이 어려워 독서활동에 필요한 도서 지원으로 대체 운영했으며 의정부영아원에 2020년 230권, 2021년 112권을 지원했다고 전했다.

김수진 의정부영아원 원장은 “영아원에 필요한 맞춤형 도서를 지원해주어 아동들이 다양한 주제의 신간 도서를 접할 수 있게 되었으며, 지원 도서를 활용한 독서활동을 통해 아동들의 창의성 및 사회성을 키우는데 큰 도움이 될 것 같다.”고 말했다. 

의정부어린이도서관에서는 올 하반기에 의정부 내 지역아동센터에 도서를 추가로 지원할 예정으로 정보취약계층 아동에게 독서문화 체험 및 도서관과 친해지는 환경을 제공하는 등 사회적 포용을 실천하는 도서관의 역할을 지속해 나간다고 밝혔다.
