[장선희 기자 = 경기북부] 지난 6월 6일 의정부시는 자일동 소재 현충탑에서 제66회 현충일을 맞아 순국선열 및 전몰장병의 위훈을 기리는 추념 행사를 개최했다고 밝혔다.

추념식은 코로나19 확산 방지를 위해 참석인원을 최소화하고 사회적 거리두기 지침에 따라 철저한 방역수칙을 준수하여 진행했다고 말했다.

안병용 의정부시장은 추념사에서 “대한민국의 어제와 오늘 그리고 내일을 위한 순국선열들의 고귀한 희생을 가슴 깊이 새기며 언제나 그렇듯 어려움을 이기는 밑거름으로 삼겠다.”고 밝혔다.

추념식 행사 종료 후에는 보훈단체 회원 및 유가족의 자율 참배와 김풍익 중령의 전투비 참배가 이어졌고, 코로나19를 예방하기 위해 시민들의 참배는 오전 11시 이후 자율참배로 분산 개최했다고 말했다.

한편 의정부시 관내에는 현충탑·의정부지구전투기념비·무공수훈자의 탑, 3·1운동 기념비·애향공적비·무공수훈자공적비·6.25참전유공자기념비·안중근 의사 동상, 월남전 참전기념비 등의 현충시설이 있다고 했다.
