이번 공청회는 주민 의식 조사 결과, 착수 보고회 및 중간보고회를 통해 작성된 계획(안)에 대하여, 지역 주민들의 의견을 적극 수용하고, 특히 공원녹지 분야 전문가의 열띤 토론을 통하여 2035년 의정부시의 공원녹지 분야 청사진을 마련하는 뜻깊은 자리가 되었다고 말했다.

공원녹지기본계획은 공원녹지법에서 정한 법정계획이며, 공원녹지의 보전․확충․관리․이용을 위한 중장기적 발전 방향을 제시하여 시민들의 쾌적한 삶의 기반이 형성되도록 하고, 자연․인문․역사 및 문화환경 등의 지역적 특성과 현실을 충분히 감안하여 실현가능한 계획의 방향을 설정하는 공원녹지 분야의 가장 기본적인 계획이라고 했다.

이번 계획은 시의 변화상을 토대로 현재 시점에 적합한 개발 목표 및 전략을 도출하여 상위계획 및 관련계획에 부합하는 공원녹지 청사진을 제시하고자 세부 추진방안을 마련하고 분야별 세부계획을 수립하여, ʻ청정하고 아름다운 물과 녹이 풍부한 정원 속의 도시 의정부ʼ를 2035년 공원녹지 미래상으로 설정했다고 말했다.

공원녹지기본계획의 세부 추진방안으로 '도시 경관 기반의 보전 및 관리', '새로운 녹지공간의 창출', '특색 있는 공원녹지 정비', '아름다운 거리 및 마을정원 조성', '아름답고 시원한 하천정원 조성'을 5가지 추진과제로 설정하여 부문별 계획을 세부적으로 검토했으며, 이번 공청회를 통해 제시된 관계 전문가 및 시민 의견을 적극적으로 수정하여 보다 완성도 높은 공원녹지기본계획으로 수립할 예정이라고 전했다. 

ʻ2035년 의정부시 공원녹지기본계획ʼ은 향후 의정부시 도시공원위원회 자문, 의정부시의회 의견 청취를 진행하고 경기도로 계획(안)을 제출할 예정이며, 2021년 12월에 수립 완료하여 시민들에게 공고할 예정이라고 말했다.
