PLS는 농산물의 농약 잔류허용기준이 미등록된 농약에 대해 농약불검출수준인 0.01ppm을 일률적으로 적용하는 제도로, 무분별한 농약사용을 방지하고 건강한 농산물을 제공하기 위해 마련됐다고 했다.

농약잔류허용기준을 위반하게 되면 1백만 원 이하의 과태료, 공익직불금 감액, 도매시장 출하 제한 등의 불이익을 받게 된다고 했다.

이에 포천시는 농약오남용에 따른 농업인의 경영관리 손실을 최소화하고자 농약안전사용 컨설턴트를 운영해 PLS제도 소개, 올바른 농약사용방법, 병해충 예찰·방제 요령 등을 교육한다고 전했다.

농업기술센터 관계자는 “적용대상 농작물·병해충, 사용방법, 사용량 및 사용횟수 등 농약잔류허용기준 위반에 대비하고, 소비자에게 안심 농산물을 제공할 수 있도록 농약사용에 각별히 주의해 주시길 바란다.”고 전했다.
