지난 4월 5일부터 의정부시는 온라인 서명운동을 위해  의정부시 홈페이지를 개설하고, 오프라인 서명운동을 위해 시청 민원실 및 각 동 주민센터에 서명부 및 홍보물을 비치해 경기연구원 의정부시 유치 필요성을 적극적으로 알리는 데 주력하고 있으며, 이는 시민들의 염원을 담아 경기연구원 의정부시 유치의 강력한 의지를 대외적으로 표명하고, 의정부시민 모두가 경기연구원 유치 필요성 및 당위성에 한마음으로 힘을 보태기 위함이라고 말했다.

지난 3월 31일 안병용 의정부시장을 비롯하여 오범구 의정부시의회 의장, 시·도의원, 시민대표 의정부시 주민자치위원장협의회장, 통장협의회장, 새마을협의회장, 바르게살기운동협의회장, 한국자유총연맹회장과  함께 참여하여 경기연구원 의정부시 유치를 위해 한목소리를 냈던“경기도 공공기관 이전촉구 결의대회”에 이은 이번 서명운동은 경기연구원 의정부시 유치 당위성에 대한 공감대를 일반 시민들에게까지 확대하고 있다고 전했다.
