[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 강릉시는 8월 초 경포해수욕장 수영한계선을 일부 연장하고 오리바위에 다이빙시설을 설치‧운영한다고 밝혔다.

경포해수욕장 중앙광장 앞 30미터 구간에 설치된 수영한계선을 오리바위까지 약 150미터 연장하고, 다이빙시설 및 진입 계단을 설치한 후 해수욕장 폐장일인 8월 21일까지 운영하며, 이후에는 모든 시설이 철거된다.

이번 수영한계선 연장은 피서객들에게 새로운 즐길거리를 제공하고 80년대 초 설치되었던 오리바위 다이빙시설을 복원하여 과거 경포해수욕장에 대한 향수를 불러일으키는 동시에 강릉을 대표하는 새로운 관광상품이 될 것으로 기대하고 있다.

운영시간은 오전 10시부터 오후 5시까지이고, 오리바위 진입을 위한 계단과 1.8미터 높이의 다이빙시설과 추가 수영한계선이 설치되며, 오리바위 개방구간은 진입 계단과 다이빙시설이 설치되는 오리바위 우측 일부 구간이다.

안전사고 예방을 위해 기상상황에 따라 진입이 제한될 수 있으며, 제트스키 3대와 인명구조선 1척, 인명구조드론 1대, 수상안전요원이 상시 배치되며 구명조끼 등 안전장비를 갖춘 피서객만 허용할 예정이다.
