기사는 큰 파장을 낳았다. 보도 된 내용이 사실로 드러날 경우 김성기 군수는 물론, 개발 비리를 빼내 부동산 투기를 했다는 의혹을 받는 이 모씨 등은 사법처리 가능성이 제기됐다. 

 

그러나 해당 기사는 다음날인 22일 오전 ‘NGN뉴스’ 홈페이지에서 삭제됐다. 본지는 가평군을 강타한 부동산 투기 의혹에 대한 기사가 한마디 해명도 없이 사라진 것에 대해 궁금증을 가졌다. 

 

해당 기사를 작성한 NGN뉴스 정 대표에게 전화를 걸어 해당 기사를 삭제한 이유에 대해 물었다. 그러나 정 대표는 아무런 해명도 없이 “전화 끊겠습니다”라고 말하며 답변을 거부했다. 

 

언론사가 기사를 삭제하는 경우 기사 내용이 사실과 다르거나 해당 당사자가 삭제를 요청한 경우에 한해서다, 그러나 당사자가 삭제를 요청하더라도 그 내용이 사실을 바탕으로 작성 한 것 이라면 삭제를 하지 않는 것이 언론사의 대처 방식이다.

따라서 해당 기사가 삭제된 이유에 대해서는 명확하게 밝혀지지 않았다. 본지는 당사자가 원하지 않았는데 기사가 삭제된 배경과 사실 관계에 대해 살펴보기로 했다.
