[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 원주지방환경청은 고랭지밭 흙탕물 저감을 위해 생분해성 야자섬유(코이어네트)를 활용한 고랑댐을 개발하여 홍천, 양구, 평창, 횡성 등 8개 시·군에 7,000개를 보급할 계획이라고 밝혔다.

기존의 양파망은 수확 후 밭에서 제거하여 생활폐기물로 처리하여야 했으나 야자섬유로 개발한 제품은 생분해성으로 토양에서 자연분해 가능하고 농민들도 사용하기 편하며, 재사용도 가능한 장점이 있다고 했다.

원주지방환경청은 지난 4월 29일 홍천군 내면 자운2리 마을이장과 협의하여 고랭지밭(약 30,000㎡) 끝단부에 야자섬유(코이어롤) 250m를 시범 설치했으며, 양파망 크기의 야자섬유(코이어네트) 고랑댐 7,000개를 5∼6월 중 7개 비점오염원관리지역* 26개 농가에 보급할 계획이라고 전했다.

* 원주청 관할 관리지역은 도암호, 골지천 유역, 인북천 만대 및 가아지구, 내린천 자운지구, 송천 대기지구, 주천강 유역 7개로 전국 22개소의 32% 차지

야자섬유 시범설치에 참여한 홍천군 자운2리 진인동 이장은 “기존 양파망 고랑댐과 실제로 비교해보니 설치가 간편하고 배수가 잘 되어 흙탕물이 더 적게 나가는 것 같다. 이번 시범사업이 잘 추진되어 더 많은 마을 주민들에게 보급되었으면 좋겠다 “고 말했다.

원주지방환경청 이창흠 청장은 “민간주도형 거버넌스 지원을 보다 확대하고, 최적관리기법(BMPs)을 개발하여 많은 지역 마을 주민들의 참여를 활성화 하겠다”고 밝혔다.
