[안종욱 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 4월 21일, 월남전에 참전한 대한민국고엽제전우회 경기지부가평지회는 가평군보훈회관 4층 회의실에서 조완수 지회장, 지병록 복지정책과장, 최춘식 국회의원을 대신하여 강정수 국민의힘 총괄본부장, 장석윤 재향군인회회장 및 고엽제 회원등 50명이 참석한 가운데 창립 제12주년 기념식과 안보결의대회를 가졌다고 밝혔다. 

조완수 가평군지회장은 기념사에서 “이국땅에서 세계 평화와 자유 수호를 위해 헌신하고 지금까지 발병원인과 치료 방법조차 모른 체 많은 약을 복용하며 병마에 시달리고 있는 고엽제전우회가평군지회 회원들에게 위로의 말을 전하고 나라사랑 정신을 승화시켜 사회의 중심으로 살아나가기 위해 함께 노력 하자”고 말했다. 

지병록 복지정책과장은 축사에서 “이국땅에서 세계평화와 자유 수호를 위해 싸우셨던 여러분들의 숭고한 희생과 빛나는 공헌은 결코 잊혀져서는 안될 소중한 정신적 가치라며, 국가 유공자에 대해서 더 많은 관심과 지원을 위해 노력을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다. 

한편, 고엽제전우회가평군지회는 지난 2010년 4월 21일 창립하여 조완수 회장을 비롯하여 130여명의 회원으로 구성되었으며, 고엽제로 인해 후유증을 앓고 있는 전우회원과 그 가족들이 서로의 아픔을 나누고 있으며, 또한 이날 기념식에서는 우수회원 최중호, 이인환, 권용수 3명에게 군수표창이 수여되었고, 이인태, 황구섭, 황태연님은 국회의원 표창을 수상하여 보훈가족들의 명예와 자긍심을 고취하는 자리가 되었다고 전했다.
