[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 의정부시는 완연한 봄이 다가오며 봄볕을 머금은 꽃 구경을 위한 나들이객이 늘어나고 있는 가운데, 직동·역전·송산사지 근린공원에 10만 송이 튤립이 활짝 피어 시민들의 눈길을 끌고 있다고 밝혔다.

지난해 시민여러분들이 자주 방문하는 공원 및 산책로에 형형색색의 아름다운 꽃길을 조성하기 위해 튤립 구근 10만 본을 식재했고, 또한, 공원녹지관리원, 공원관리 기간제근로자 등 자체 인력으로 직접 식재함으로써 노무비, 제경비 등 예산을 절감하는 효과까지 거두었다고 했다.

올해도 연내 총 3회에 걸쳐 진행되며, 1차는 오는 5월 중에 메리골드, 백일홍 등, 2차는 8월 말경에 페츄니아, 사루비아 등, 3차는 11월에 튤립 구근 등 총 30만 본을 식재할 예정이라고 전했다.

박성복 환경사업소장은 “계절별로 특색있는 초화류를 심어 다양한 볼거리를 제공하고 시민들의 지친 마음을 치유하는 힐링공간으로 공원 환경을 만들어 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

공원과는 초화류 및 수목 식재, 전지 등 G&B프로젝트를 지속적으로 추진하는 한편 시민들이 즐겨 찾는 주요 산책로 구간의 수목 환경정비를 통해 주민 불편을 해소하고, 아름답고 쾌적한 도심 환경을 제공할 계획이라고 했다.
