[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 환경부 원주지방환경청은 관내 음용지하수 관정 43개에 대한 수질검사를 무료로 실시한다고 밝혔다.

동강유역 생태·경관보전지역 내 지하수 관정 26개소와 국가 지하수 수질측정망으로 운영되고 있는 관정 17개소가 대상이며, 수질검사는 4월까지 세균, 납, 페놀 등 먹는 물 지하수 수질기준 47개 전 항목에 대해 실시한 후 6월까지 지하수 관정 소유자에게 수질검사성적서를 발송할 계획이라고 했다.

이번 무료검사는 환경보전을 위한 국가시책에 협조하는 과정에서 여러 불편을 겪고 있는 지역 주민의 편의를 위해 실시하고, 먹는 물 지하수는 2년마다 수질검사를 받아야 하는데 이번 무료수질검사를 통해 법정검사를 대체할 수 있게 되며, 관정 1개소당 약 27만원이 소요되는 검사비용도 절약할 수 있는 효과가 있다고 전했다.

이창흠 청장은 “정부의 환경정책에 적극 협조해 주시고 계신 주민들에게 조금이나마 보탬이 될 것으로 기대한다”고 밝혔다.
