[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 9월부터 포천시가 시민들의 도서관 이용 기회를 확대하고 독서 생활 장려를 위해 일동도서관 정기 휴관일을 매주 월요일에서 매월 마지막 월요일 월 1회로 변경했다고 밝혔다.

포천시 7개 시립도서관 중 남부 및 중부 권역의 경우 매월 1회 휴관하는 도서관(소흘도서관, 중앙도서관)이 있으나, 북부 권역의 3개 도서관(일동도서관, 영중도서관, 영북도서관)의 경우 매주 월요일이 휴관일로 지정되어 있어 그간 북부 권역 지역 주민들의 불편이 있었다고 했다.

이에 포천시에서는 주민 불편 해소를 위해 북부 권역 도서관 중 가장 이용률이 높은 일동도서관의 정기 휴관일을 매주 월요일(월 4회 이상)에서 매월 마지막 월요일(월 1회)로 9월부터 변경했으며, 이번 정기휴관일 변경을 통해 인근 도서관과 교차 휴관이 시행돼 지역 주민들의 도서관 이용 불편 해소 및 이용 활성화가 이뤄질 것으로 기대하고 있다고 했다.

일동면 주민 A씨는 “월요일마다 도서관이 문을 닫아 30분을 차로 이동해 중앙도서관으로 가서 책을 보거나 공부를 했는데, 이번 일동도서관 휴관일 변경은 도서관을 이용하는 시민 입장에서 너무나도 반가운 소식이다.”라고 말했다.
