지난 6월 28일 태권도시범단 신임 감독 위촉을 시작으로 코치 2명을 포함한 지도자 선임을 완료하였고, 또한 지난 8월 25일 태권도시범단원 실기시험을 실시하였으며, 관내 초·중·고·대에 재학중인 총 36명의 시범단원을 최종 선발함으로써 시범단 구성을 마무리하였다고 했다.

안종성 체육과장은 “의정부시 태권도시범단이 태권도의 위상을 제고하고 시범공연을 통한 역동적인 이미지 부각으로 시 홍보단 역할을 수행해 주기를 바란다”며 “현재 코로나19로 인해 정상적인 활동은 어렵지만 향후 태권도시범단이 성공적으로 운영될 수 있도록 만전을 기해달라”고 당부했다.

시는 시범단 구성을 완료함에 따라 창단식 개최를 추진할 예정이며, 코로나19 대응단계에 따라 방역수칙을 준수하여 시범단 운영을 적극 지원할 계획이라고 했다.
