[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 8월 6일 의정부시는 아이스팩 재활용 사업으로 수거한 재활용 아이스팩을 관내 취약계층 어르신 200가구에 전달했다고 밝혔다.

관내 주민센터 14개소에 설치된 아이스팩 수거함을 통해 수거된 아이스팩은 자원순환과에서 재사용이 가능하도록 살균·세척 단계를 거쳐 노인복지시설인 나눔의샘 재가노인지원서비스센터와 시민노인복지센터에 제공했다고 했다.

각 시설 소속 재가관리사는 폭염으로 어려움을 겪고 있는 어르신 가정을 직접 방문하여 폭염 대비 행동요령 안내와 함께 아이스팩을 전달함으로써 취약노인들의 폭염피해 예방을 위한 활동을 실시했다고 했다.

안병용 의정부시장은 “버려지는 아이스팩 재사용으로 쓰레기 감량과 환경보호는 물론, 폭염으로 어려움을 겪는 취약노인들에게 조금이나마 도움을 줄 수 있을 것으로 기대된다”고 밝혔다.

의정부시에서 위탁 운영하고 있는 재가노인지원서비스센터는 다양한 이유로 일상생활 유지에 어려움을 겪고 있는 취약·위기노인을 대상으로 일상생활 지원과 상담, 동행 지원, 후원 연계 등 다양한 서비스를 제공하고 있으며, 사례관리를 통해 갑작스러운 위기에 처한 노인에게는 외부 자원을 연계하는 등 긴급지원 서비스를 제공하고 있다고 전했다.
