[장선희 기자 = 경기북부] 지난 6월 17일 의정부시 흥선동 지역자율방재단은 우기철을 맞아 단원 및 통장 등 약 40여 명이 6개 조로 나뉘어 빗물받이 정화활동을 실시했다고 밝혔다. 

이번 정화활동은 통장들의 사전 점검에 따라 저지대 및 이면도로 등 정비가 필요한 빗물받이 및 침수 위험지역을 선정하고, 본격적인 장마철이 시작되기 전에 빗물받이 준설 및 거름망 청소 등 유수 흐름을 방해할 수 있는 각종 이물질 제거한 결과, 각종 쓰레기, 토사물, 낙엽 등 수백kg을 수거하여 빗물받이 80여 개의 흐름을 정상화했다고 말했다.

한편, 흥선동은 이번에 정비하지 못한 빗물받이와 보수가 필요한 빗물받이는 의정부시청 도로과에 준설 및 보수를 요청하여 여름철 피해 예방을 위해 힘쓸 예정이라고 했다. 

민승기 흥선동 지역자율방재단장은 “더운 날씨에 마스크까지 착용하고 빗물받이 정비에 임해준 단원들과 통장님들께 감사하다. 앞으로도 정비가 필요한 빗물받이를 지속적으로 제보받아 동에 전달하는 등 방재 활동에 최선을 다하겠다.”고 말했다.
