현재 의정부시에 등록된 동물관련영업은 동물판매업, 동물생산업, 동물수입업, 동물전시업, 동물위탁관리업, 동물미용업 및 동물운송업 등이며 주요 점검내용은 미등록 영업자 적발, 영업장 내 동물보호법의 학대행위 여부, 시설․인력 기준 및 준수사항의 준수여부 등이며, 위반 영업장에 대해서는 등록취소 또는 영업정지 처분이 이뤄지며 영업자의 지위를 승계하고 그 사실을 신고하지 않은 경우는 30만 원의 과태료를 부과받게 된다고 했다.

정희종 도시농업과장은 “적극적인 홍보와 지도점검을 통해 개선된 제도가 조기에 정착될 수 있으며 또한 반려동물 관련 영업이 건전하게 발전할 수 있도록 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 밝혔다.
