청소년 육성 및 보호 유공 표창은 5월 청소년의 달을 맞이하여, 청소년의 건강한 성장 및 청소년 친화적 사회환경 조성에 기여한 자에 대한 포상을 통해 청소년 육성 및 보호에 대한 국민적 관심을 제고하고자 진행된 포상이라고 말했다.

이번에 수상한 임상우 단장은 2005년부터 현재까지 청소년유해환경감시단 활동, 청소년 흡연·음주 예방활동, 청소년 폭력 예방 등을 통해 청소년의 건전한 성장환경 조성에 기여한 공로를 인정받아, 국무총리 표창을 수상하는 영예를 안았다고 했다. 

임상우 단장은 “청소년들의 올바른 성장을 위한 선도활동과 지역사회의 발전을 위해 앞으로도 꾸준한 봉사활동을 하겠다”고 수상소감을 밝혔다.
