[장선희 기자 = 경기북부] 오는 6월부터 11월까지 동두천시는 '초등학생 치과주치의사업'을 실시한다고 밝혔다. 

'초등학생 치과주치의사업'은 본래 초등학교 4학년을 대상으로, 구강검진은 물론 구강교육, 구강진료를 진행하여, 예방중심의 포괄적 구강건강 관리를 돕는 사업이지만, 코로나19 장기화로 인해 지난해 사업이 유보됨에 따라 올해는 동두천양주교육지원청 및 관내 치과의료기관 14개소의 적극적인 협조를 통해 4학년과 5학년을 대상으로 병행하여 추진될 예정이라고 말했다. 

코로나19 감염예방을 위해 유선을 통한 사전예약은 필수이며, 관내 14개소 치과는 물론, 경기도 내 치과주치의 지정의료기관이라면, 지역과 무관하게 예약 및 이용이 가능하다고 했다.

의료기관을 방문하면, 올바른 칫솔질을 비롯하여, 구강검진 및 구강교육이 이루어지고, 주치의의 판단에 따라 불소도포, 치아 홈 메우기, 치석제거, 파노라마 촬영 등의 서비스를 개인 비용 없이 제공받을 수 있다고 했다. 

이승찬 보건소장은 “경기도 초등학생 치과주치의사업은 평생 구강건강을 좌우하는 중요한 시기의 초등학생들에게 매우 유익한 사업이니만큼, 보다 많은 학생들이 치과주치의서비스를 받을 수 있도록, 학교와 학부모의 적극적인 독려를 부탁드린다”고 말했다.
