이번 성년식은 코로나19 확산 방지를 위해 동두천중앙고등학교 학생 12명과 문화원 관계자 등 최소 인원만 참석한 가운데 진행됐고, 행사는 영상촬영을 통해 행사장에 참석하지 못한 교내 학생들이 모두 생방송으로 시청했으며, 성년례에 대한 의미 설명을 시작으로, 거례선언 및 상견례, 자관자례에 이어, 수훈장 및 명명장 수여로 마무리됐다고 했다.

이날 행사에 참석한 최용덕 시장은 참여한 학생들에게 명명장을 직접 수여했으며, 덕담으로 “성년식을 통해 성년이 되는 기쁨을 누리고, 성인으로서의 역할과 책임을 다하는 뜻깊은 시간이 되기를 바란다”고 전했다.
