건설사가 흘려보낸 오수는 아직까지 인체에 해가 있는지 파악되지 않고 있으나, 방류된 곳이 조종천으로 팔당 상수원 보호구역까지 바로 연결되고 있어 수도권 주민들의 안전도 우려되고 있습니다.

 

10일 오전 낚시를 하기 위해 조종천을 찾은 마을 주민 A씨는 평소와 다르게 회색물이 줄줄 흘러들어오는 것을 확인하고 하천 관리를 맡고 있는 가평군에 민원을 제기했습니다. 

 

취재진이 현장을 찾은 당시에도 회색빛을 띠고 있는 부유물들은 계속해서 흘러나오고 있었습니다. 

 

이렇듯 부유물이 조종천으로 흘러오는 이유는 근처 오피스텔 공사 현장에서 발생한 오수를 정수 과정을 거치지 않고 오수관에 무단 방류했기 때문입니다. 

 

공사 관계자는 “10일 오전 오수를 방류하다가 흙탕물이 나와 급히 방류를 멈췄다. 시멘트는 아니고 공사하다 나온 흙과 돌의 부산물”이라고 주장했으며, “재발 방지 대책을 마련하겠다”고 밝혔습니다.

 

그러나 공사를 진행하고 있는 시공사가 조종천에 오수를 방류하다 적발된 것이 이번이 처음이 아니라는 점이 문제입니다. 

 

현장에 조사를 위해 나온 가평군 공무원은 오피스텔 현장에서 오수를 방류했다는 민원은 지난 3월 9일과 4월 20일에도 접수돼 현장을 방문했다고 설명했습니다. 

 

하지만, 가평군은 조사 결과에 따른 시공사 측에 행정처분은 비공개 대상이라며, 폐쇄적인 태도를 보였습니다.
