[서종협 기자 = 태백시] 태백시의회(의장 고재창)의회는 21일 태백시청을 방문해  튀르키예 강진으로 인한 지진 피해 규모가 크고 일상 회복 기간이 장기화될 것을 염려하여 신속한 피해 복구 및 이재민 구호를 위해 성금 100만 원을 전달했다고 밝혔다.

고재창 의장은 “튀르키예는 한국전쟁 당시 우리를 돕기 위해 목숨을 걸고 참전한 형제의 나라”라며, “지진의 안전지대는 없으며, 어느 국가든 처할 수 있는 아픔에 태백시의회는 한마음으로 기부에 동참한다”라고 말했다. 더불어 시민들께서도 따뜻한 위로를 부탁드린다고 당부하며 성금 모금에 적극적으로 참여할 것을 독려했다. 

기탁된 성금은 강원도 사회복지공동모금회를 통해 튀르키예에 전달될 예정이다.
