[김택곤 기자=영월군] 영월군은 ‘영월 운탄고도 1330 1~3길’이 한국관광공사와 전국 관광 기관협의회가 공동으로 추진한 ‘2022년 친환경 추천여행지’에 선정됐다고 밝혔다.

‘2022년 친환경 추천여행지 발굴 및 선정 사업’은 지역별 저탄소 여행 체험이 가능한 친환경 여행지를 선정 및 홍보하는 사업으로 전국 주요 관광지 대상 여행 매력도, 친환경 여행 지속가능성, 친환경 여행 가치 확산 등의 심사기준을 통해 평가했다.

올해 선정된 친환경 추천 여행지는 전국 총 25개소로, 강원도에서는 유일하게 영월군의 ‘운탄고도 1330 1~3길’이 탄소중립 실천 여행지에 이름을 올렸다.

운탄고도 1330은 과거 석탄을 싣고 달리던 차들이 오가던 폐광지역 4개 시군을 연결한 친환경 걷는 길로 영월에서부터 정선, 태백, 삼척까지 이어지는 해발고도 1,330m, 총 길이 173.2km에 달하는 아름다운 숲길이다.

이 중 선정된 운탄고도 1330 1~3길은 영월군 구간으로 지난 10월 1일 개통식 이후 TV예능 프로그램 방송과 ‘운탄고도 1330 느리게 걷기’, ‘영월 운탄고도 에코 하이킹’ 등의 다양한 행사 진행을 통해 ‘한국의 산티아고 길’이라 불리며 많은 트레킹 관광객들로부터 인기를 끌고 있다.

한편, 한국관광공사는 선정된 여행지를 대상으로 ‘친환경 추천 여행지’ 테마 페이지를 오픈하고 다양한 이벤트 개최 등을 통해 홍보해나갈 방침이다.
