[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 원주지방환경청은 대기 휴대용측정장비를 활용하여 올 한해 대기배출시설의 미신고 오염물질에 대한 단속을 강화하겠다고 밝혔다.

대기배출시설을 설치한 사업자는 자가측정을 통해 미신고된 오염물질이 배출될 경우 변경신고를 하여야하나, 대부분의 사업자는 신고된 오염물질만 자가측정을 진행하여, 관할기관의 점검 시 미신고된 오염물질이 검출되어 행정처분을 받은 사례*가 많이 발생했다고 했다.

기존에 신고되지 않은 중금속류, 휘발성유기화합물류(VOCs) 등 새로운 오염물질이 빈번히 검출되며, 휴대용 측정장비는 간단하게 현장에서 추가 발생 물질을 확인할 수 있는 장점이 있다고 했다.

앞으로 원주청은 휴대용측정장비를 활용한 계도 및 홍보를 통해 사업장의 적극적인 자가측정을 유도하여 미신고 대기오염물질에 대한 관리를 강화할 예정이라고 전했다.

또한, 기존 육안 및 서류확인 등의 점검 외에도 대기환경기준 초과 여부를 즉시 확인하여 배출시설에 대한 부적정운영 사항을 더 강력하게 단속할 예정이라고 했다.

이창흠 청장은 “관내 대기배출시설에 대한 관리를 강화하여 대기질 개선에 힘쓰겠다” 라고 밝혔다.
