자동차 탄소포인트제는 가입일 전후 일 평균 주행거리 감축 실적에 따라 인센티브를 지급하는 생활 속 온실가스 감축 실천 제도라고 했다.

참여 대상은 의정부시 등록 차량 중 비영업용 승용·승합차(12인승 이하)로 휘발유·경유·LPG 차량이며, 법인 또는 단체 소유와 영업용, 친환경 자동차(전기·하이브리드·수소 등)는 대상에서 제외되며, 참여를 희망하는 경우 자동차 탄소포인트제 누리집에서 회원가입 후 차량 전면부가 나오는 자동차 번호판, 주행거리 계기판, 자동차등록증 사진을 등록하면 된다고 전했다.
