[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 오는 12월 8일 환경부 원주지방환경청은 횡성군 갑천면을 시작으로 미세먼지 계절관리제(12월~3월) 기간동안 매주 수요일 4개 시·군*, 16개의 면에서 영농폐기물 불법 소각 근절을 위한 집중 캠페인을 실시한다고 밝혔다.

원주청 관내 23개 시·군의 생물성 연소*로 인한 초미세먼지(PM-2.5) 배출량은 1,955톤으로 전체 배출량의 32%를 차지하며, 가장 많은 배출량을 나타내는 4개 시·군을 대상으로 영농폐기물 불법 소각에 대해 집중관리 할 예정이라고 했다.

이번 캠페인은 영농폐기물 불법 소각 대신 영농폐기물을 적정한 방법으로 처리토록 유도하기 위해 면사무소 공용게시대와 마을 내 폐비닐·폐농약병 공동집하장에 현수막을 게시할 예정이며, 영농폐기물 소각이 왜 문제가 되는지에 대한 홍보자료로서 관내 23개 시·군에 리플렛을 제작·배포할 계획이라고 했다.

이창흠 원주지방환경청장은 “이번 집중 캠페인을 통해 관내 미세먼지 배출원 중 많은 부분을 차지하는 영농폐기물 불법소각 근절과 미세먼지 저감 분위기의 지역사회 전파에 앞장서도록 노력하겠다.” 고 밝혔다.
