[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 20일 동두천시 생연·중앙동 도시재생 주민협의체 주거지정비분과는 원도심 집창촌 인근 지역에서 협의체 회원 및 분과원들과 함께 환경정비 활동을 실시했다고 밝혔다.

이번 활동은 2021년 동두천시 마을공동체 주민제안 공모사업을 통해 진행됐으며, 원도심 내 방치된 자투리 공간을 생기 넘치는 공간으로 재탄생시키기 위해 마련됐고, 생연동 590-29 일원에서 주거지정비분과 회원과 생연동 행복마을 관리소 지킴이 등 10여명이 참석한 가운데, 집창촌 인근 자투리 공간에 약 150주의 사철나무, 측백나무와 100여 본의 국화를 식재하였다고 했다.   

이날 활동을 이끈 도시재생주민협의체 주거지정비분과 이종림 분과장은 “쓰레기 무단투기로 황폐해진 장소를 정리하고 가꿔 도심 속 작은 정원으로 재탄생시키는 본 활동에 대한 지역 주민들의 반응이 좋다”며 “원도심 환경개선을 위해 앞으로도 이와 같은 활동을 이어나가겠다”고 말했다.
