[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 12일 동두천시 소요동 새마을남녀지도자협의회는 추석을 앞두고 깨끗하고 아름다운 소요동을 만들기 위한 환경정화활동을 실시했다고 밝혔다.

이날 이른 아침부터 소요동 새마을남녀지도자협의회원과 소요동장 포함 동 직원 등 11명은 관내 주요 도로변 및 동두천역사 일대를 청소하고 생활폐기물을 수거했다고 했다. 

조강숙 부녀회장은 “다가오는 추석, 동두천을 찾아올 귀성객을 맞이하여 환경정화 활동을 진행했다”며 “코로나로 많은 귀성객이 오시긴 힘들겠지만 오시는 분들을 깨끗하게 반겨주고 싶다”고 밝혔다.

김기덕 소요동장은 “쉬는 날에도 이른 아침부터 귀한 시간을 내주신 협의회원님들께 진심으로 감사드리며 앞으로도 적극적인 관심과 참여 부탁드린다”고 말했다.
