[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 원주지방환경청은 최근 강원 홍천·평창군 일원에 발병 빈도가 높아진 ASF(아프리카돼지열병) 발생지 인접지역*에 야생멧돼지 수색역량을 집중, 확산세의 조기 차단에 주력하고 있다고 밝혔다.

원주지방환경청은 지난 7월 29일 평창군 오대산 일원에서 발견된 야생멧돼지 폐사체 ASF 양성 판정을 계기로 평창군 진부‧용평‧대관령면 일원 및 홍천군 내면 자운리 일원의 수색을 강화하였으며, 지난 8월 20일부터는 홍천군 내촌면 와야리 ASF 양성판정 야생멧돼지 폐사체 발견지 및 양돈농가 양성개체 발생지 주변을 집중 수색, 지난 8월말까지 양성 폐사체 총 31개체를 확인하였다고 밝혔다.

원주지방환경청은 그간의 집중수색 등 노력에도 최근 홍천‧평창군지역의 광역울타리 밖 지역으로 양성 개체가 확산되는 상황에서 무엇보다도 주민들의 적극적인 방역 협조가 절실하다고 밝혔다. 

경기‧강원 접경지역에서 국내 최초 발병한 ASF는 그간 차단용 울타리 설치, 포획‧제거, 야생 멧돼지 폐사체 소독·매몰처리 등의 지속적 노력에도 제동이 걸리지 않고 있다고 했다. 

이는 야생멧돼지의 이동에 의한 개체 간 감염 전파뿐만 아니라 사람의 이동‧활동에 의한 간접 전파가능성도 커서 방역기준 준수 등의 주민협조가 없다면 확산 방지에 한계가 있다는 점을 보여준다고 했다.

원주지방환경청 이창흠 청장은 “양돈농가의 ASF 감염을 차단하기 위해서는 주민들의 적극적인 방역협조가 절실히 필요하다.”고 밝혔다.

“가을 추수철 이후 야생 멧돼지 활동범위가 확산될 것으로 예상되는 가운데 주민들의 버섯‧약초‧밤‧도토리 등 임산물 채취를 위한 입산활동이 많아지면 ASF 감염‧전파 우려도 그만큼 커진다.”고 강조하며, 지역주민들에게 “임산물 채취 등을 위한 입산활동이나 양돈농가 출입의 자제와 더불어 방역기준의 준수”를 당부하고, “야생멧돼지 폐사체를 발견하면 즉시 신고”할 것을 요청한다고 거듭 밝혔다.
