이번 지도점검은 본격적인 여름 휴가철에 앞서 시중에 유통되는 먹거리 안정성 확보와 더불어 공정한 거래질서 확립, 소비자 알권리 보장을 위한 것이라고 했다.

점검 대상은 여름철 보양식, 나들이 다소비 품목을 취급하는 일반음식점과 마트 등 도·소매업체이며 점검 품목으로는 닭고기, 전복, 뱀장어, 낙지, 미꾸라지, 한약재류 등 보양식 품목과 소고기, 돼지고기, 오리고기 등 나들이 품목이라고 했다.

점검반은 직접 현장을 방문해 판매 목적의 보관·진열 중인 점검품목 일체에 대해 판매일 기준 원산지표시 여부와 혼동·이중표시 여부, 판매 업체별 원산지표시 사항과 거래명세표 대조·확인 등 법적 의무사항 이행여부를 중점적으로 점검한다고 했다.
