[김현우 기자 = 포천] 포천시는 지난 17일 舊 6군단 사령부 부지 활용방안 연구용역 최종보고회를 개최했다고 밝혔다. 

용역은 지난해 11월 공식적으로 해체된 6군단 사령부 부지를 활용하여 첨단소재 R&D 등 신성장 산업단지를 조성하고, 인구유입과 지역경제 활성화를 위한 기본구상안을 수립하기 위해 추진했다. 

이날 최종보고회에서는 舊 6군단 사령부 부지에 미래전략시설을 유치해 포천시의 미래성장거점으로 조성하고, 첨단산업업종 유치 및 산학연 R&D의 자족기능 산업용지와 전철7호선 역세권 사업을 연계해 주거를 포함한 복합문화시설을 조성하는 것으로 기본구상을 수립했다.

백영현 포천시장은 “국방부와 3회에 걸친 상생협의회를 통해 순조롭게 협의가 진행되고 있다”며, “1단계로 신성장 산업단지를 舊 6군단 사령부에 조성하여 자족기능을 마련하고, 2단계로 15항공단 등의 통합 이전을 추진하여 전철 7호선 역세권 개발과 연계해 포천의 미래를 책임질 첨단산업·주거 복합타운으로 조성할 계획이다”라고 밝혔다.

포천시는 오는 6월 국방부와의 군사시설 이전 건의 및 협약 체결을 위해 사업실행전략 등 구체적인 개발방안 실시용역을 추진하고, 국방부의 민군상생복합타운 및 경기북부특별자치도 발전전략 사업과도 연계할 계획이다.
