[서종협 기자 = 태백시] 동서고속도로 추진협의회는 오는 23일 오전 11시 오투리조트 백두홀에서 동서고속도로 추진협의회 제8차 정기회를 개최한다고 밝혔다.

올해 동서고속도로 추진협의회 회장시는 태백시로 정기회 총회를 주관하며 회원 시·군 시장·군수가 모두 참석하여 올해 성과를 돌아보고 내년도 주요 안건을 논의할 예정이다.

협의회는 제천~영월구간 실시설계 착수, 영월~삼척구간 중점추진사업 선정 등의 성과를 돌아보고, 앞으로 미 개통구간에 대하여 예비타당성 조사 면제, 전구간 동시 착공의 관철을 위해 활동을 지속할 예정이다.

협의회 회장시 태백시 관계자는 “이번 정기회를 통해 7개 시·군이 힘을 합쳐 지역의 어려움을 극복할 기반이 될 동서고속도로 잔여구간의 조속한 준공과 개통에 대한 의지를 보이고 방안을 논의할 것이다”며 “시민들의 지속적인 관심과 동서고속도로 조기 개통 염원에 함께 할 것”을 당부했다.
