[서종협 기자 = 태백시] 태백시(시장 이상호)는 농촌노동력 부족 해결을 위해 지난 16일 태백시장 집무실에서 필리핀 팜팡가주 마발라캇시와 외국인 계절근로자 교류에 관한 양해각서 협약(MOU)을 이상호 태백시장, 가르보 마발라캇시장, 주요 관계자 등이 참석한 가운데 체결했다고 밝혔다.

이번 협약에 따라 팜팡가주 마발라캇시에서는 계절근로자 유치조건에 적합한 근로자 선발, 출국에 필요한 모든 행정절차 및 비자 신청, 출국 전 근로자 필수교육 등을 지원하기로 했다.

또한, 시는 계절근로자가 적기에 입국할 수 있도록 대한민국 재외공관 사증(Visa) 발급, 국내 체류 시 지속적인 지도·점검을 통해 적법한 근로조건과 환경 등을 지원하게 된다.

이상호 태백시장은 “ 이번 협약을 통해 농업 인력 부족 문제를 겪고 있는 관내 농업들의 경영안정에 도움이 되기를 바란다”며 “앞으로 시와 가르보 마발라캇시 양 기관이 농업 생산성 향상과 소득증대를 위해 상호발전 수 있기를 기대한다”고 말했다.
