[서종협 기자 = 태백시] 태백산소드림도서관은 한국도서관협회와 10월의 하늘 준비위원회가 공동 주최하는 ‘과학자들의 재능기부 도서관 과학강연- 10월의 하늘’ 공모사업에 선정되어 오는 29일 오후 2시부터 과학강연을 개최한다고 밝혔다.

‘10월의 하늘’은 탄광촌 소년 호머 히컴이 로켓 과학자의 꿈을 이루어가는 과정을 그린 영화 <Octorber Sky>에서 명칭을 가져온 것으로, 올해는 산소드림도서관 다목적실에서 직접 과학자들을 만나 강연을 들을 수 있으며 김문섭 정선고등학교 물리교사의 ‘온 몸으로 느끼는 과학이야기’와 이한용 전곡선사박물관 관장의 ‘석기는 과학입니다’주제로 재능기부 강의가 진행된다.

강연 대상은 초등 3학년 이상의 지역주민은 누구나 참여 가능하며, 오는 11일 오전 10시부터 선착순 30명을 도서관 홈페이지 독서프로그램을 통해 온라인 모집한다. 

시 관계자는 “과학의 기본원리와 빛과 우주에 대해 쉽고 즐겁게 체험하는 강연과 실제 석기와 재현석기를 직접 만져보는 체험형 강의로 인류 진화와 구석기문화에 대한 이해를 높일 수 있는 기회이다”며 “ 시민의 많은 관심과 참여 바란다.”라고 전했다.
