[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 포천시는 제52주년 지구의 날인 오는 22일 저녁 8시부터 10분간 시청 등 관내 공공기관과 시 상징물을 비롯해 공동주택 등을 대상으로 건물 내 전등 및 외부 조명을 소등하는 ‘지구의 날 소등행사’를 한다고 전했다.

오는 4월 22일 지구의 날은 1969년 미국 캘리포니아주에서 발생한 해상 원유 유출사고를 계기로 환경문제에 대한 심각성을 일깨우기 위해 전 세계적으로 지정된 환경보호의 날이라고 했다.

신미숙 친환경정책과장은 “소등행사를 통해 기후변화의 심각성 및 탄소중립의 중요성을 인식하고 생활 실천 운동에 동참하는 계기가 되길 바란다.”면서 “지구를 위한 작은 실천인 이번 행사에 많은 시민의 관심과 참여를 당부한다.”고 말했다.

한편, 포천시는 올해 기후변화에 적극 대응하기 위해 친환경정책과에 기후변화대응팀을 신설하고 전기자동차 등 환경친화적 자동차 보급 및 인프라 구축을 위한 전기·수소자동차 충전소 구축, 신재생에너지 보급사업, 탄소중립 실천운동 등을 추진하고 있다고 전했다.
