‘꿈나무 보금자리’ 사업은 코로나19로 학교에 가지 못하고, 집에서 머무는 시간이 많아진 아동들에게 안전하고 쾌적한 주거환경을 제공하기 위해 주거 빈곤 아동가구를 발굴하여, 도배·장판, LED 등기구 교체, 소화기 설치 등을 통해 아동의 건전한 성장을 도모하기 위한 사업으로, 경기사회복지공동모금회에 기탁되어있는 동두천시 예치금으로 시행된다고 했다.  

이번 전수조사를 통해 발굴한 가구는 호당 100만원 이내의 개·보수를 받게 되며, 오는 5월부터 관내 집수리 업체들과 계약하여, 공사를 진행할 예정이라고 말했다. 

진영호 복지정책과장은 “전수조사를 통해 발굴한 주거환경 개선이 필요한 각 아동가구에 적절하고 필요한 집수리를 실시하여, 동두천시의 아동 모두가 쾌적하고 안전한 환경에서 자랄 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 밝혔다.
