[김준호 기자 = 삼척시] 삼척 조비리(현 조비동)를 중심으로 전승되어 온 삼척조비농악은 예전부터 입춘날 선농단에서 행한 농악으로 400여 년의 전통을 지닌 삼척시의 대표 농악으로 발전되어 왔다.

삼척조비농악단(단장 홍성태)이 지난 9월 29일(목)부터 9월 30일(금)까지 이틀간 정선에서 개최된 제29회 강원민속예술축제에서 최우수상(단체상 1등/강원도지사상)을 수상하고, 홍성태 단장이 지도상(개인상/강원도지사상)을 수상하는 쾌거를 이뤘다.

삼척조비농악단은 삼척문화원 등에서 고유 민속 계승발전을 위해 역량을 키워왔으며, 이번 수상을 계기로 삼척조비농악을 대내외에 널리 알리는 데 큰 역할을 하였다.

이번 행사에서 최우수상을 받은 ‘삼척조비농악단’은 오는 2024년 개최되는 ‘한국민속예술축제’에 강원도 대표로 참가하게 된다.

삼척시 관계자는 “앞으로도 삼척조비농악이 지속적으로 발전 계승되고, 대내외에 우리 시의 대표 농악으로 알려질 수 있도록 노력하겠다.”고 전했다.
