[김준호 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 대한민국 특수임무유공자회 동해영월정선지회 주관으로 지난 22일 특수임무유공자회 동해영월정선지회 회원 30여명이 동해시 어달해수욕장 일대에서 수중정화 및 해변 환경정화 활동을 펼쳤다. 

관광객들과 시민들이 안전하고 쾌적한 어달해변을 즐길 수 있도록 특수임무유공자 회원인 전문다이버가 어달해수욕장에 무분별하게 자라고 있는 해조류를 제거하는 수중작업을 했으며, 해변에 버려진 각종 생활 쓰레기를 집중적으로 수거했다.

갈색의 해조류는 모자반의 일종으로 파도에 의해 해변으로 밀려나와 고약한 악취를 풍기며 해양생태계에도 악영향을 미치는데 이날 환경정비로 10kg 푸대 130개 분량의 해양쓰레기를 집게차까지 동원, 약 1.5톤을 수거하여 깨끗한 백사장을 되찾게 됐다.

이성진지회장은 “특수임무유공자회에서는 깨끗한 동해바다를 만들기 위해 매년 꾸준히 수중정화활동을 펼쳐왔으며, 앞으로도 해양환경의 중요성을 지역사회에 널리 알리고 시민들이 청정한 동해시를 즐길 수 있도록 활발한 사회공헌활동을 전개할 예정”이라고 말했다.
