[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 동두천시는 지난 13일, 일반시민을 대상으로 텃밭재배 체험교육을 실시했다고 전했다. 

이날 체험교육은 지난 5월 6일 개강하여 두 번째 진행된 수업으로, 올해 11월까지 매월 1~2회 계절별 작물재배 체험교육을 실시할 계획이라고 했다. 

동두천시 농업기술정보센터는 최근 안전한 먹거리와 건전한 여가 활용에 대한 관심이 높아지면서 나만의 텃밭을 만들고 가꾸기를 희망하는 도시민이 증가함에 따라 멀칭, 배수로 만들기 등 기초 농작업은 물론 로메인 상추, 아삭이 고추, 고구마, 옥수수, 제비호랑이강낭콩, 메리골드 등 다양한 작물을 직접 심고 체험하는 아름다운 텃밭 정원 수업을 실시해 호응을 얻고 있다고 전했다. 

센터 관계자는 “2021년 상패동에 약 200여평 규모의 농업 체험교육장을 조성하고, 『보고 가꾸고 먹고 즐기는 텃밭 가꾸기』 교육프로그램을 지속적으로 개발해 예비귀농자 및 초보 농업인이 쉽게 접근할 수 있는 농업교육을 실시하겠다”라고 말하며 “자라나는 학생들을 위한 생태텃밭 교육 프로그램도 개발하여 생명과 자연의 소중함을 느낄 수 있는 활동들도 추진해 나갈 계획”이라고 덧붙였다.
