예방접종 대상은 원주시민이 기르는 동물등록된 3개월령 이상의 개와 고양이로, 미등록 개체는 동물등록 후 접종할 수 있다고 전했다.

가까운 동물병원(22개소)에서 접종할 수 있으며, 외장형 무선 식별장치 및 인식표로 동물등록한 개체는 반드시 동물등록증을 별도로 지참해야 하고, 평소 예방접종 비용은 2만 원이지만, 이번 접종 기간 내 접종하면 1만 원만 부담하면 된다고 했다.
