[김일중 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 양주시는 관내 지하수를 생활용수로 사용해 오던 마을상수도 11개소 중 8개소에 대하여 지방상수도 보급사업이 완료됐다고 밝혔다.

양주시는 지난 3월부터 마을상수도, 소규모 급수시설을 사용하는 마을 11개소에 대해 시설 관리자와 이·통장 등이 참석한 주민설명회를 추진, 사업 목적과 추진계획을 사전 안내했다고 했다.

올해 추경 예산을 통해 사업비 15억원을 투입해 지하수 고갈·오염으로 생활용수 사용이 어려운 지역에 우선적으로 추진하고 보급사업을 완료했고, 또한 기존 마을상수도 사용자들의 경제적인 부담을 줄일 수 있도록 지난 4월 조례를 일부 개정을 통해 급수공사 시 발생하는 원인자부담금에 대해 면제 조항을 추가하기도 했다고 전했다.

공사가 완료된 마을상수도 8개소에 대하여는 해당 마을에 마을상수도 시설 지정 폐지에 대해 안내 완료했고, 미 완료된 3개소에 대해서는 내년도 국·도비 확보를 통해 순차적으로 보급사업을 진행할 예정이라고 했다.

양주시 관계자는 “마을상수도와 소규모 급수시설을 사용하는 시민들이 안심하고 마실 수 있는 지방상수도를 공급해 안정적인 생활용수를 사용할 수 있도록 수돗물 공급에 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
