[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 28일 동두천시는 전철1호선 동두천중앙역 인근에 위치한 중앙동게이트볼장에 휴게 벤치를 설치했다고 밝혔다. 

시는 평소 어르신들이 운동경기 중 잠시 앉아서 휴식을 취할 수 있는 벤치가 부족하여 불편을 겪고 있는 점과 특히 여름철 무더위에 노출된 어르신들을 위해 게이트볼장에 휴게 벤치를 설치했다고 말했다.

최용덕 동두천시장은 “어르신들께서 체육활동을 많이 하고 있는 관내 게이트볼장에 대한 편의시설 확충 등 시설 기능보강에 힘쓰겠다”며 코로나19 4차 대유행에 따른 지역감염이 확산되지 않도록 사회적 거리두기 방역수칙 준수에 적극 앞장서 주실 것을 당부했다.
