[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 10일 포천시 소흘읍새마을회는 이동교리에 위치한 농경지에서 정성을 들여 농사지은 감자 1,500kg을 수확했다고 밝혔다.

장마로 인한 장대비가 쏟아지는 가운데에서도 이웃사랑 실천을 위해 최기진 소흘읍장을 비롯한 포천시 소흘읍새마을회 회원 30여 명이 동참해 코로나19 방역수칙을 철저히 준수하며 감자 수확을 진행했다고 했다. 

이날 수확한 감자를 판매해 수익금으로 관내 어려운 홀몸 어르신 및 이웃을 위한 나눔을 실천할 예정이라고 전했다.

이진형 새마을지도자소흘읍협의회장은 “마스크를 쓰고 감자를 수확하느라 구슬땀을 흘린 회원분들에게 감사하다. 함께 나눔을 실천할 수 있어 보람을 느낀다. 앞으로도 지속적으로 나눔 활동을 이어나가겠다.”라고 말했다.

최기진 소흘읍장은 “지난 4월부터 7월까지 열심히 가꿔온 감자를 수확해 도움이 손길이 필요한 읍민에게 따뜻한 마음을 전할 수 있어 기쁘다.”라며 “코로나19로 모두가 힘든 시기임에도 힘써주신 이진형․김근자 회장님을 비롯한 소흘읍새마을회 회원분들에게 감사드린다.”라고 말했다.

한편, 감자 수확 행사는 이웃사랑 실천의 일환으로 매년 진행되고 있으며, 소흘읍새마을회는 코로나19 확산 방지를 위해 경로당 등 다중이용시설 방역에도 적극적으로 참여하는 등 지역사회의 발전을 위해 노력하고 있다고 했다.
