[김현우 기자 = 가평] 가평군은 설악면 행정복지센터 신축공사가 65%공정률을 보이며 오는 10월 새롭게 선보일 예정이라고 20일 밝혔다.

기존 설악면사무소는 지난 1989년 건립돼 30년이 경과하면서 낡고 좁아 늘어나는 복지·문화·행정 서비스에 대한 주민의 요구가 있었다.

이에 가평군은 주민 안전과 다양한 행정서비스 제공을 위해 설악면사무소를 지난 2021년 하반기, 연면적 2755㎡에 지하 1층, 지상 3층 규모로 착공했다. 

지하 1층에는 기계실 및 전기실 등이 들어서며, 지상 1층에는 농민상담실, 복지상담실, 면장실, 다목적회의실, 서고 등이 마련된다.

지상 2층과 3층에는 예비군중대, 회의실, 자재창고, 식당, 휴게실 등이 설치된다. 총 사업비는 83억9000여만 원이 투입될 예정이다.

이와 함께 가평군은 노약자 및 장애인 등의 이용편의 증진을 위해 미설치된가평읍, 청평면, 상면, 조종면 등 4개소 행정복지센터 승강기 설치공사도 올해 안에 완료할 계획이다. 

앞서 가평군은 주민의견을 수렴한 합리적인 공간구성과 세련된 디자인으로 주민들에게 양질의 행정서비스를 제공하는 등 다양한 문화와 취미생활을 즐길 수 있는 주민중심의 장소가 될 수 있도록 사업추진에 만전을 기울여 왔다.

가평군은 설악면 행정복지센터의 신축으로 행정능률 향상 및 주민들의 편의를 도모하고 문화·복지 공간 확대에 따라 주민 삶의 질 향상과 지역공동체 형성의 구심적 역할을 수행할 것으로 기대하고 있다.

가평군 관계자는 “설악 주민의 숙원사업이었던 행정복지센터 준공이 눈앞에 다가와 매우 기쁘게 생각한다”며 “그동안 낡고 협소한 면사무소를 이용하며 불편함을 겪은 지역주민 및 민원인들이 보다 쾌적한 환경에서 친절한 행정서비스와 다양한 센터 프로그램을 누릴 수 있을 것으로 기대되는 만큼 앞으로도 군민들이 행복할 수 있는 행정복지실현에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
