[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 1월 25일 의정부시의회는 ‘역대 의장 초청 정담회’를 개최하고 의정 발전 방안을 모색하는 자리를 마련했다고 전했다.

오범구 의장을 비롯하여 이만수(제1대 후반기, 제2대 전반기) 전 의장 등 역대 의장 8명이 참석한 가운데 의회 현안 및 발전방향에 대해 다양한 의견을 나눴다고 했다.

역대 의장들은 “지방의회의 숙원이었던 지방의회 인사권 독립이 시행되었지만 우수 인력 확보, 의회 전문성 강화 등 아직 과제가 많다”고 조언하면서, “시민과 지속적인 소통으로 시민의 목소리를 대변하는 의회 본연의 역할에 충실해주길 바라며, 의정부시와 의정부시의회의 발전을 위해 관심을 갖고 적극 협력하겠다”며 관심과 당부의 말을 잊지 않았다.

오범구 의장은 “그동안 여러 차례 역대 의장님들과 정담회를 계획했으나 지속된 코로나 유행으로 여건이 여의치 않아 이제야 모시게 되어 송구한 마음이다. 이제라도 역대 선배 의장님들과 소통할 수 있는 자리를 마련하게 되어 무척 뜻깊게 생각하며, 전임 의장님들의 경험과 지혜가 담긴 조언에 감사드린다. 앞으로 더 나은 의정부를 위해 의정활동에 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
